In their eyes, just playing for the National Championship is not enough for the players, the fans or the coaches. When you take out the emotion and look strictly at the talent, being chosen to play for the national championship is a tremendous honor, win or lose.
Chris Lowry, of the Star 99.5, said of Bob Stoops, “ always the bridesmaid, never the bride.” To earn the right to play in this game as many times as coach Stoops has, is an outstanding accomplishment. Yes, bridesmaids have to spend a lot of money to buy ugly dresses that they will wear only once but they get to drink just as much punch as the bride. Congratulations to Coach Stoops for his accomplishments and our hats off to his contribution to college football.
After the big game, the local media has covered everything from the triumphant return of the players in” Gator One” to interviewing the people whose job it is to clean up after a city celebrating their third National Football Championship. The transformation of Title town from an almost deserted community on Wednesday to a celebration by the masses on University Avenue Thursday evening was quick.
Congratulations to Coach Urban Meyer and his entire team for bringing home the Crystal trophy and it pleases me to no end to be lucky enough to be a part of Gator nation and witness history in the making firsthand. I picked a great time to become a college football fan.
Now for my prediction on Tim Tebow’s future, those on talk radio all have opinions on what he should and should not do and they give many reasons as support. But the pundits failed to take into consideration what it means to be a Florida Gator. I think Superman will stick around, finish his senior year and ponder whether he should try for back to back National Championships or a second Heisman trophy. I look forward to seeing Tim Tebow play football for the Florida Gators one more year. Go Gators!
